New bee equipment supplier in NC

Orr Bee Supply is a new equipment supplier in NC. They build their own boxes, supers, screened inner covers and their prices seem good.

I don't know many of the members of Guilford Beekeepers association so I don't know Olav. He's not listed as a member on this site. Sounds Swedish, or Norwegian though. We extract borrowing the equipment of a fellow beekeeper, who is a member. His extractor is modified to fit medium frames, so my hu...

Based on advice from another beekeeper, I am converting to two deeps and will add queen excluder/shallow honey supers on top of that.

What kind of extracting equipment will you be using? Will it extract medium supers?

Ski, I went into them just deep enough to find brood, was afraid of disturbing them too much. One hive had built burr comb above the deep, between it and the super and it was full of pupa  when I separated it to look for brood in the brood box. I gave them the extra deep with foundation to dra...

Adding deeps/feeding question

I've asked this but gotten different answers, so I thought I'd try to glean something here. My hives made it through the winter, but not without feedings, as two were robbed out last fall. I fed both syrup and raw sugar as weather permitted. Now temps in mid-seventies, pollen comming in. Sunday I ch...

Interesting. I'm thinking about trying foundationless frames in a few of my deeps as a way to naturally regress for varola mite solution. They say it helps regress to smaller cell.

Do you use deeps at all? I saw a picture of your hives and didn't see any.

Going deep into the hive

Is anyone planning on checking their hive for brood, health of the queen, hive etc. any time soon? I haven't been in mime all year and feel I should, but I'd like to watch someone else do this before I attempt it. Thank you for the welcome to the forum, Wally, it encouraged me to join and participat...
