Re: Borrowing Bee Suits
Thanks for the offers. I borrowed suits and veils from John at Triad Bee Supply. Everyone that saw the bees were amazed and thrilled. Even a little four yr old boy. He just kept saying how awesome and cool it was. We even got to see the queen! We think one of my hives (only have 2) may have gotten i...

Borrowing Bee Suits
My small group from church is coming out to my house this Thursday @ 11am to have a picnic and see the bees. I have two suits and may have three if one person brings one, but was wondering if anyone was willing to loan a couple of bee suits to me for that day. A couple of adult suits and a child's s...

Re: HORNETS OR YELLOW JACKETS KILLED AND ROBBED MY BEES
The bees were not all gone. There were a thousand or so left, maybe more. And, no sign of ants. Oh well, whatever killed most of them did and nothing I can do. Will start over next spring. Thanks for everybody's response.

Re: HORNETS OR YELLOW JACKETS KILLED AND ROBBED MY BEES
If it was pesticide, why was every frame empty of all the honey and brood that was there?

HORNETS OR YELLOW JACKETS KILLED AND ROBBED MY BEES
Started my first hive in March. Had a hard time from the beginning. Had a drone laying queen. By the time we discovered she was a dud, my bees were dying off fast. Added a nuke and everthing got better. They were all doing great. I inspected the hive 3wks ago and it was beautiful. Yesterday I discov...

Re: Supercedure cells in new hive
I am thinking that either decision I make will work, but I have a gut feeling that letting nature take it's course is best. Thanks for the help. Wish me and "my girls" luck!

Re: Supercedure cells in new hive
I will have to look to see if the cells are empty. Being a beginner I did not know what to look for. I just saw the queen cells and assumed they were making a new queen. But, my thoughts are with yours; maybe the bees know something we don't about the queen that is in there now. And, as my first men...

Supercedure cells in new hive
I am a beginner beekeeper. My package bees and the queen were installed Mar.30, 2012. Four days later when I checked the hive the queen was released and everything looked good. During inspection yesterday everything was beautiful and the queen was laying eggs. However, the worker's have several supe...
