Re: supercedure cells
No, I did not. I made a bad assumption & should have looked further. Thanks for the clarification.
If there are larve in royal jelly in the Queen cups, then is it a supercedure cell? What then?

Re: supercedure cells
I saw what looked like normal brood cells. Some capped, some with larve. I think the queen is still present or has been within the last few days based on the larve size.
I also saw what appeared to be several supercedure cells.

supercedure cells
I have a new colony from a package installed 4/6/13. I checked at day 4 to insure the queen that came with he package was released & she was. I have been unable to go back into that hive until yesterday & saw several supercedure cells. I also saw larve - relatively small ones. I did not see ...

Re: hive robbing?
Thanks. There seemed to be more bees facing the hive, as if they were trying to get in. Some leaving but not as many. Typically I will see 6-12 at a time coming & going. This seemed like 40-50. I did see some confrontation but not like i've seen online watching robbing videos on youtube! I put a...

hive robbing?
I'm seeing a lot of bees flying around one of my hive's main entrance, more than seems normal. I have two new hives this year and both have done well & seem strong. Can someone descibe what robbing looks like and the best way to stop it?

Re: is this a swarm in process?
its a new hive install as of March this year. I thought the recommendation was an entrance reducer for the first year of a new install(?)

Re: is this a swarm in process?
Why would they 'beard' like that around an alternative entrance? Rob mentioned they might be my bees at the entrance & a swarm at the rear... I just went out to check them (8:30pm) and they are still grouped that way. Thoughts?

Re: is this a swarm in process?
Thanks for the input. Unfortunately I do not have equipment. They may be from the hive they are attached to - i saw some questionable cell on it Sunday. I have 2 and both hives are bearding. I'm planning on going into the hives tomorrow mid-morning for inspections. Marc said he would bring a nuke by...

is this a swarm in process?
I got home early from work & found this about 3:30pm. We just had a huge storm blow over and more bad weather in the area.
