Bees

Hi, Jimmy
Glad to see you are interested in keeping the bees. The bees in your oak tree may or may not swarm this year. If they haven't swarmed in march or april they may in may or june. You never can predict when they will swarm. When they do, they do not take the whole hive. There will still be enough left to maintain a hive in the oak tree. The swarm is just to multiple the number of hives. If you can find a local beekeeper who will work with you, or if you can attend a few club meetings, you can learn what it takes to catch and maintain a hive when you do find a swarm. It is not a good idea to attempt your first hive alone. You need the advice and guidance of an experienced beekeeper, both for the well being and safety of you and the bees. I hope this helps. Keep posting and I'm sure you can find the answers to all of your bee questions somewhere amongst all the beekeepers in the club.
Good Luck
Wally
