In the Feb. American Bee Journal on page 104 there is a notice on a bacteria that is toxic to Small Hive Beetle that the government has licenced to Marrone Organic Innovations, Inc. of Davis, Calif., and Natural Industries, Inc. of Houston, Texas It comes from soil rich in decomposed hemlock leaves and collected from the mountain region in central Maryland. Is there a way to find out when this might be available to us for purchase? I have SHB in my hives and they're driving me crazy.
Thanks, Tracey
Small Hive Beetle Toxic Bacteria Licence
Tracey, so glad to see you post again. Hope you and the family are doing well. That is all I wanted to say. I had one small hive beetle in a hive so i just picked him out. Are your hives small??? A strong hive will usually take care of the little boogers. If you think you can make it until they grow I would suggest that. Take care.
Hey! Thanks for the warm welcome, it's been a cold winter! Yes, the bees are taking care of them, but I'm worried they'll become more prolific. I have my bees in a forested area with morning sun and I understand if not in full sun it can present a problem. This just sounded like a nice, natural death for them, if I could buy it. Hope you're all well and hope to see you in the spring/summer.
