8 frame or 10?

Post by 4Paws »

Brushy Mtn is really pushing their 8 frame set up. Anybody ever used one and would they do so again?

She will also be at class Thursday night. Remind me and I'll point her out to you.

TJ on this forum uses all 8 frame. You might send her a PM.

I think there are distinct advantages to an 8 frame set up.

#1 They are approx. 20% lighter so are better for your back.
#2 I believe beekeepers tend to force the bees into what they think is best. Most bees like to work in a chimney fashion building narrow and up. Perhaps the bees favor this.
#3 Less wood should equal less $

Brushy had a lot of 8 frame hive stuff in the bargain barn.
