I was wondering that. I have noticed that my hive, has just now started showing a marked increase in bee numbers. They have been on a slow buildup this spring, but seem to be in good shape now, if they just wond swarm.

I have some locust that have started to bloom in my area. It is just too far for my bees, at about 5 miles away. Still no poplar bloom though.

Started seeing it today about three miles away. I am in a valley, and things are a bit slower here, but up higher the poplar has started. My bees must have found it some where the way they are working.

tulip poplar

I have seen some petals of bloom on the ground in Summerfield here, probably knocked down by squirrels, so it looks like the bloom is just starting and with the weather warm the next week or so should see the full bloom out.

Poplar Bloom

Here (just north of Greensboro), the poplar blooms have been openning for about a week now. We are right next to Air Harbor airport and have plenty of water for the trees. All of our trees have been really strong on blooming this year. That includes the maples, oak, dogwood and poplar.
