Dead drones

Post by dfain »

My hive appears to be doing really well. Had to treat mites earlier this spring after installing the nuc. Recently have found 20+ dead drones outside of the hive. What could be going on? Lots of eggs still, lots of capped brood, no apparent problems except these drones.

The workers are queenrite and happy with her. They don't need drones around any more. They are tossing them out as the honey flow comes to an end. The queen will also slow down on laying as the flowers disappear.
