hive split

Post by drewgrim »

i split one of my bustling hives today and both hive bodies were over full. i went out tonight and the original hive is bearding all the way up the hive body and around the corners.

i wasnt planning on adding another hive body but they look real crowded do i need to add another hive body? or should i just let them be?

I was wondering the same thing I have one hive with a very large beard the other hive not so much. Does the large beard mean they are too crowded. Both hives sit next to each other.

Add a box, then be ready to remove it before winter if it is empty.
