Bee to be removed
Southeast Greensboro
1630 sharpe rd
Older 2 story house
wood/composite siding (bees up near roofline)
Older woman (Sally Stancil) fixed income

needs bees removed to complete home repairs. Non invasive removal unless party doing removal can put house back together as they found it.

are you sure there isnt any one out there interested in doing a free bee removal? Sally is still hoping that someone will call her!

You should bring it up at the club meeting. Possibly doing a club function trapout. A half dozen members working together would be easier than one person doing it all. There should be enough interest to get it done.

I'm on board. I've never done a trap out. I'm confident about my ability to destroy property on cut outs, but less confident about how to put the pieces back together. I will try and get by the location before the end of this week to see what I can see. Learning trap out skills will be a worthwhile experience.

It's not done, David. We are trying to get a group together to do a trapout. You can join us, or you can have it by yourself, if you want it.

Rob and I surveyed the house today. It will not be a trapout. If it gets done, it will be through the wall in the upstairs bedroom. Any volunteers to take a sheet of sheetrock down, possibly cut the wood wall behind it, and remove a large colony?

I will watch and guide, if we get 4 or more volunteers to do the cut out.

i wouldn't mind helping. i have some sheet rock to put back in the hole too but they may want a professional to mud it in for paint.

You never want to do repairs on a cut out, Dave. Then you carry the liability when another swarm moves in.

Jacobs, what you mean ME count YOU in?? You are doing the counting on this job.

Make your plans and get the names together. Set it up with the homeowner and let me know when it's going to be.

I would think the sooner the better and a Friday or a Saturday would be good for me. If anyone is interested, how about giving me a preference of days that are better (Friday or Saturday) and any dates that are definitely out. When I get the critical minimum number for a day/date and get the ok for that date with the homeowner, we will go with that date. I will get up with you Wally to get more detailed schooling in battle planning.

I spoke with Marc this evening. He is a willing volunteer and available for most times, so it looks like we have 3 so far.

Is this home old enough to have lath and plaster instead of sheetrock?

I'm no expert, but I looked at it with the owner and her nephew and I was asking the same question. On the bedroom wall where the bees are located, we saw what looked like a seam under the textured paint. It looks like a drywall seam. The nephew believes it is drywall which may have an earlier wall behind it. He thought he could probably repair the dry wall and they were not upset about cutting what was behind it.
