why do bees like chlorine?

Post by ttthay »

My sister has a pool about 1/4 mile from my hives and she says many bee's are being killed everyday in her filter. I have a pond and a creek in my yard...so its not like they dont have a water source. Any idea why the bees go to the chlorine pool? I told her to quit blaming me...she has not seen my name on any of the bees...so why is she accusing me? :)

I agree. How do you know it's your bees? There are likely other hives in the area. Bees mostly choose the closest supplies. They don't waste energy.

Many would tell you that bees are attracted to any foul smelling water simply because it is. It would seem that the bee's sense of smell has something to do with their choice of water.
