I'll be in Georgia picking up bees, but if it is good for everyone else, I'll just have to miss the party.

I'll wait on Ski to chime in. If he can't, it won't be done that day.

I am available on April 2nd but I also don't mind waiting for a Saturday when Rob is available or doing it on a Sunday afternoon when Rob is available. Those are just my thoughts.
Just some thoughts.

I'm not aware of any Sunday afternoon that would be a problem for me.

How's April 17? We could announce it at field day and see how many wanted to come. It would be like having a 2 day field day.

April 17 works for me, and I think the invitation at Field Day is a good idea.

Refer to Wally's post on page 1.

#5... It's against the law.

The requirement is to have a movable frame hive so the bees, brood, comb can be inspected for pests and diseases. I suspect you could keep one for many years before someone said anything, if they ever said anything, but you would most likely be harboring more pests and diseases that cold cause problems for your non bee-gum hives, at least if you had them in the same area. Or the movable frame hives could spread pests to the survivor bees in the bee tree.
Just some thoughts.

Well it seems that I cannot keep any bees alive in my reg hives anyway :(...had a bee tree and now they have died out too :(. At least it seems like bees can survive some out in the trees. Still hoping things will change this spring.

tthay,
Do you have an idea why your bees died?
Poor ventilation, lack of food, mite level too high going into fall/winter, cluster too small?
Don't bee discouraged every beekeeper looses hives, just get a few hives so if you loose one it won't seem as bad because you will still have some bees flying.

If the forecast is correct, we will open it. If the kids are controllable, bring all of them you want.
