Signs of a skunk

Post by ski »

Appears I had a skunk visit one of my hives last night(four legged kind). If there had been any moisture in the grass the ground would have been more muddy with foot prints on the landing board. Since it has been so dry just got a bit of ground dug up with some dirt on the landing board.

Skunks have not been a constant problem for me, they have visited a hive in the past and then seem to leave them alone. If this seems to be an ongoing problem I can add a carpet nail strip or nailing plate to the bottom board landing area. I have also read that a small roll of chicken wire in front of the hive will work to deter skunks.

Keep your eyes open for the signs they may be visiting your area real soon.
