While a few setbacks delayed the start, we are on track to have the boys trained and ready to start keeping bees in spring.
Triad Bee Supply have donated one complete 8 frame hive with supers.
We will start with a workshop day early January where we will assemble this, and also talk about lesson 1
We have two hive tools, a smoker, and one hive donated.
We still need: a 10 frame hive (unassembled pls) , frames, veils for at least 6 boys. Plus in spring the obvious bees, which I am sure won't be an issue in this club.
From our presentation at the Central Carolina Fair we were awarded $100, and the troop has given to me to use on the project, I will use it to buy foundation and basic treatment setup
I have a blog for interested members to follow along , or contribute, it is 90% done and I hope to get it up and running within a week.

The lessons are from the Bee keepers merit badge book that I am rewriting , as the 1983 version was hopelessly out of date. I will need a few proof readers soon.....
The apiary location was an issue, but was resolved finally and will share with those who help us.
