swarming hive

Post by quentin »

Checked our 2 hives this evening, suspected the strongest had swarmed. Looked through the surrounding trees and found them in one about 20 feet up. They are not clustered but "wrapped" around the tree trunk. I think they may be trying to set up a new hive.

Too high for me to climb, thinking about cutting the tree down and attempting to coax them into a hive body.

Any suggestions?

Need more info. Call me 336-302-2708. There's a dozen ways to get them down.

Didnt wait for Wally's post, fired up the chain saw....

Fortunately with advice from Wally we managed to recover the swarm and it is doing well today. (At least those that survived the fall are)

Thanks again Wally
