Any swarm cells out there?

Post by BDriggers »

Just checker boarded/supered my hives a few days ago. Hope it's not too late to curb potential swarming...Anybody else checkerboard, and if so how early this year did you do it? Also, anybody found swarm cells yet? Gonna try and check this afternoon for some....

Thanks

I found 5 swarm cells in my hive. First I checkerboarded the top super, then ended up doing a split because it's teeming with bees. I didn't want them to swarm, so just trying to be proactive.

I have been checkerboarding some of my hives that are building up but do not have queen cells. In the nuc of 1 deep and 6 mediums that I hived up, I checkerboarded and added a medium super, but it did not stop that hive from making multiple queen cells and attempting to swarm.
