Swarm-8/3/17

Post by Jacobs »

David and I vacuumed this small swarm off the sidewalk beside Latham Park this morning. We spotted the queen and put her in a clip before we started vacuuming. My estimate is softball size and a little bit more. They are in a nuc with a few drawn frames, a jar feeder through the inner cover, and a nuc robber screen. No small hive that is being fed will survive the "interest" shown by the other bees without a robber screen. I will release the queen tomorrow morning and add the remaining frames to make a total of five.
