From the description of events, this roughly 1lb swarm is an afterswarm of a colony high in the homeowner's oak tree. I put the bees in a nuc and will check queen status in a day or two.

About how high was it? Did you use a pole bucket?

It was about 4 feet high. I could put my hand around the branch and give it a good shake into a bucket.
