small swarm

Post by Kurt Bower »

Caught a softball size swarm in one of my yards the other day. An after swarm from one that I thought was in the process of stabilizing and requeening itself. Of course when I looked in I saw almost no bees. This hive for some reason had swarmed itself to death. I have not had this happen in a while.
Just can not understand why they do that.

I have one that is the same way. I plan on reducing them back this week, and hope they get queen right before the winter.

Last years marked queen came out without me knowing it, and many after swarms have came out, two of which I did not get.
