Apparently, the fly lays eggs in the honeybee and eats them from the inside out. I wonder if it attacks all species of honeybee?

Jim, good to hear from you again. I hope things are going well for you, and thanks for the update. I'm including a link to a story about this fly from earlier in the year, and an excerpt from the 1861 edition of the American Bee Journal reporting a similar parasite on "humble bees".
