Newbee first swarm

Post by quentin »

Started with 2 hives last spring, lost one over winter, the other looked strong this spring. Planned to take a stab at splitting but worried that it was too cold. Thought I'd do it this weekend, but the bees beat me to it.

Started swarming about 11:00 am. Clustered in a cedar about 30 feet from original hive. Put them in an empty hive, seem to have accepted the new home.

Big day for the newbees!
