Swarms-4/11/16

Post by Jacobs »

B_Lee wasn't available to pick up today's 2 swarms, so he gave the very nice homeowner my name and number. Her description of 2 swarms in her back yard was very accurate when David and I went to collect them. One was on a tree about 8 feet high and the other was on the next tree about 5 feet high. We used the bee vacuum and 2 swarm buckets. David hived a really large swarm and I hived a very nice sized swarm. B_Lee had already collected 2 swarms from the same location recently. The two sets of bees showed no interest in trying to combine or intermingle. If these came out of managed hives, someone is bound to notice a considerable drop in activity.
