I built a solar wax melter in April of 2010.

It lived under a hickory nut tree for 5 years and the wood was getting rotten. So I was going to reuse the window and build a new box but, my luck ran out and a few hickory nuts broke the window. I put a piece of plexi glass over the broken window and the nuts broke it as well. So here is how it looks today.

I liked the solar wax melter so I hunted around for another window and built another wax melter. I scavenged the hinges and chain off the old melter.

Just some thoughts.
Re: Solar Wax Melter
Nice! I found an old, square window discarded by the elementary school that was built in my neighborhood in 1928. Nothing like a little neighborhood relic to complement a shared neighborhood bee yard. I've been needing to build one and yours reminds me I need to get to it, so thanks for the post and the photos.
