LOTS of drones

Post by DuaneB »

Did a quick inspection of my STRONG hive to find the Queen has 7 frames of brood, on the same half of a 2 deep setup. On the 7 frames, 4 of them a LOTS of capped Drone cells. Lots, like 200 to 300 of them. I only saw 1 or 2 practice Queen cells. I put all the Brood frames in the bottom box; put the frames with pollen/honey in the upper box, above the brood. Should I be concerned about all the capped Drone cells?

Don't worry. Be happy. That is not an overly large number of drone cells for a strong hive. The sooner we have drones, the sooner we can get queens mated.
