Swarms-4/4/19

Post by edfuselier »

Came home to a swarm trap full of bees today. Later, the hive in my front yard swarmed and the bees drifted away - not sure where they ended up. As I drove through the neighborhood looking for them, I met someone that had bees enter her home through the oven vent. They seem to be setting up shop there (unrelated to the bee cloud that left my yard - hers entered the house by 4:30 and mine left after 5:30). They said that they contacted GCBA, and that someone is going to come check things out this weekend. I drove a swarm trap over laced with lemongrass oil and we put in on a ladder near the vent. So, all in all seems like there were three separate swarms in Cedarwood today.

Get a bottle of Fischer's bee quick and fill the oven vent. Hopefully, it will run them out before they have brood.
