Swarm Question

My colony swarmed today for the first time this season. I climbed a tree to catch the swarm, but they left before I could capture them. I then noticed that there were a ton of bees on the front of their original hive and hanging from the bottom. I thought this might be bearding, but I have never seen this many bees beard before, and they weren't doing it before they swarmed. Do swarms ever return to their original hive? If so, what should I do about it?

Yes. If the queen fails to leave with them, they return. They will leave again within a day or two. It's time to make a spit.....ASAP.
