I started a trap out on a tree for the city of Greensboro on the 12th of Sept.
I checked for queen cells on the 20th.
There were two nice ones, but no drones in any of my hives, so I figured it was too late to raise a queen and get her mated. I ordered one from Harold Curtis. After not making connection with him on Friday, I received the queen in the mail Sat. When I arrived at the trap, I noticed a small group of bees on the side of the tree. I smoked the group lightly and as they spread out, I reached down and picked the queen up and set her at the box entrance. She went right in.

I now have a Curtis queen, marked and ready to install. She is free to anyone who wants her. Just call me at 336-302-2708 and come get her.

Is this the Henderson Road hive that was in the news or another location?

Speaking of "Anything Could Happen", I had a hive swarm on Monday!! I could not believe it. Makes me wonder if it was weather or what??? Just when you think you know a thing or two about the ladies. I hope they didn't find a home and returned back. I will find out today I hope.
