Nosema ceranae

Post by ski »

During one of Mr. Kim Flottum’s talks at the March convention he commented a few times about not treating bees for the sake of treating, its not good for the bees and the pest builds resistance.
All good advice that we have heard before and practice.

However, Nosema ceranae seems to be an exception with Mr. Flottum. If I understood him correctly if your bees get Nosema ceranae they could be dead in a week. That’s not much reaction time. Therefore, HIS recommendation was to treat twice a year with Fumagilin.

Any comments or guidelines for our local area?
