Ski, I will only be doing the removal if you guys want the experience. If you can get together, we will do it. If not, we won't. It may be next week, or next month. It's just setting there, there's no hurry. I think L&H is going to try and contact you at lunch today.

I have a removal to do in a garage. It will be from the outside and the wall removal will not be a problem . Do any or all of you want to join me for the experience?

Anyone else is also welcome.

Splitting to ward off swarms

I checked one of my hives today, consisting of one deep and one medium. I found about a dozen queen cells. I got another medium super and another hive body, each with 10 frames and either drawn comb or foundation, plus to tops and two bottoms. I now have two hives with 5 frames of bees, brood, honey...

Now sit back and watch your bees remove the shb and wax moth larva while you enjoy your beer. Why do you think you...

From 30 to 60, Kid. Think 60,000 strong hive in a warm winter when there is some brood being raised all year. Most winters and most hives, around 40 lbs. Also, take in the fact that a cold wet spring with heavy brood rearing and you may use even more before the bees can begin to replace it. I was in...

The weather is keeping them from coming out too fast and stopping up the funnel. I checked them this afternoon and there are 2 1/2 frames of bees in the box. I expect to have a box full about Thursday. Then I will set another box and try to get a second hive started.

HONEY!!!! I thought everybody robbed all the honey and fed them 60 lbs. of sugar water. :P  They will consume 30 to 60 lbs. of stores, depending on the weather and size of hive. They don't care whether it is in the super or hive body. They will put it where they want it. It's personal prefere...

L&H, I edited your post to make the link work by just clicking instead of having to copy and paste. All I did was put a space between your 3 periods and the link. If you run the link concurrent with your post without a space, it doesn't recognize it as a link.

Photos take up an enormous amount of bandwidth, Not knowing how much we have on the forum, I think we need to talk to Kurt before we post very many pictures. If the bandwidth isn't a problem, then I will post how to do it.

I personally don't think you will see even a 25% decrease, much less 50%. All plants, and all animals, have one common instinct, to reproduce. Until a plant makes seed, it will keep trying until frost. I think you will be astonished at the recovery in the plants in the next 3 weeks. All the hype you...
