Re: Laying worker
That is what I heard too. Was wondering if that was the case for a laying worker too. I put a 5 frame nuc into a Queenless colony and that worked well.

Re: Swarmed to death!
I experienced something that Bob Bennie talked about in one of his videos, this year. That, even during the honey flow, if they are trapped in, because of something like the 4 days of rain about 4 weeks ago, they will start a swarming process. If you don't check your hive after the rain event for sw...

Derth
Are we headed into the derth already? My bees, as a whole, are more defensive than they had been. I get the washboarding during the overcast days, but still. . .

Re: Laying worker
I have a definite laying worker hive. If I put a new virgin queen in the hive, will they kill her?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Honey from wax cappings
I run 9 frames in a 10 frame box for getting honey. They draw the wax out thicker than the frame, making removal with a knife easy and helps to balance out the extractor. What process do you use to get the honey from the wax cappings, as there is a good bit of honey in the cappings?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I received a call from my wife informing me the we have a couple of swarms needing a home. I didn't realize the were both in the same bush. While getting things ready for them, I received another call from the guy that keep an eye on my hives in Jamestown. The 2nd and 3rd pictures are of those swarm...

Re: Swarm 3/11
Thanks for the Magic number, Wally. I thought someone told me it was above 70° that they would swarm.
May you have a great weekend!

Swarm 3/11
I really thought I was on top of things, then I found this today between two sets of hives. When I saw then, it was about 3:30 in the afternoon and the temp was 57°. I didn't know/realize they would swarm in this cool of temperature.

Swarm 3/05
Stopped by my outyard, in Jamestown, after dropping a couple of hives off at a co-worker's place only to find a swarm had moved into my bait box sitting a grape vine. I don't know when they moved in, or its size, but they were bringing in pollen.

Swarm 2/16/23
It was supposed to get to 72° today, so I was a little concerned that there might be some swarming today. I came home at lunch and noticed bunch of bees going in and out of a 3 stack of nuc bodies on a bottom board. After going through the swarm, I did see the Queen. She is not one of mine, as she w...

Adding another honey super
When adding another honey super, does it go above or below the existing super? Do you checkerboard if it has undrawn frames in it?
Thanks!
Thanks!

I've read that Cudzu nectar smells like Grape Kool-aid. Been trying to figure out when it blooms.
