Re: Drones

I went to my 5 hives yesterday but I did not see the first drone! Should I be worried? I did however see small amount of brood in all the hives so I know that the queens are starting to lay. Four hive had quite a bit of store the fifth was a little light so I gave them two frames from the freezer. I...

Re: Chemical Kill Update

After the chemical kill I collected and sent a number of the dead bees to The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to be analyzed. I have no idea how long that will take for the results. It was the only hive that had the problem. There are hives on either side of the effect...

Three weeks ago I had what must have been a chemical kill. One of my very strong hives had about two thousand dead bees in front of the hive including the queen. I put a new queen in a week later. The hive is now very strong and queen is laying well. I now have two supers full of capped honey. Quest...

They covered the front and reached all the way to the ground which is a good eighteen inches.. I have had bearding before but nothing l...

 OK guys I have a question! Today I installed two packages of bees. I left my car (black) parked in front of the hives when I unloaded them. The installment went great. A couple hours later I went to check on the hives to see how they were doing and to move my car. The bees were great but the ...

Feeding

I put out a small community yesterday and had hundreds of bees eating. They are back again this morning in the rain. I have not seen any fighting or drowning, I did give the floats in case they feel in.
