Re: Adding another honey super
Both under and over supering are acceptable. You checkerboard a couple of open brood frames when adding brood frame foundation, but honey supers are unnecessary.

Yesterday, I went out to go somewhere and noticed several bees on the landing board of the 10 frame hive. I lifted the lid, and sure enough, I had about 4 frames of bee. MY KIND OF...

Ain't dat da truff??
Getting another set of teeth would be much more useful at 60 than at age 6. “The starting pay is $40,000. Later it can go up to $80,000.” “Great, I’ll start later.” Only in math problems can you buy 60 cantaloupe melons and no one asks, "What the Hell is wrong with you?” “I’m 85 and my body is ...

Re: OA treatment for newly caught swarms?
Can't answer your question, but put a queen excluder on the bottom board. Then I would blast them the first day I saw larvae, before any cells were capped.

No 30's forecast at night for the next 2 weeks. Maybe an early last frost date.

If all that transpires, I would suggest scratching the caps on the sugar water frames to entice them to move it.

Winter Solstice
I was in Beez Needz supply house this morning when a gentleman came in and asked the question. Him.. My bees aren't touching the sugar brick. Can they not get to it? ME.. Is it laying on the top frames and can you see down between the frames? Him. Yes ME.. Are there flowers blooming around your hous...

Re: Sugar Rolls
Depends on the treatment.
Something like Formic pro, that may kill the queen, one only.
Something like OA fumes, both hives.

Who suggested a frame of honey? In 20 years of trapping, I never recommended honey, only a frame containing eggs. If you want to feed the trap, do so 100 feet away.

Re: First Trap-Out: started 5/30/21
It's never out of the question, since the bees don't read the rule book, but if it happened, I would think she would keep on going with a handful of workers, rather than go in the box.
