Guilford Technical Community College Needs Bee Removal
Hello, all! Sorry I haven't been more active on the boards this summer, but it's been a busy one!! I have been working part-time at Guilford Technical Community College in Jamestown, NC. The LRC (Learning Resource Center) where I work has a bee colony or colonies that are living in the wall, and are...

Hello, Old-Dog! I got mine on the 9th of April. I've got about the same amount of frames being worked (about 5), but not fully drawn out. They are only working in the middle. I didn't see eggs today, but I did see larvae, so I know the queen is laying. The Miller bees are fine, they are just not tak...

Update on my colonies
Just a quick update on my two colonies. My first from Brushy is doing gangbusters. Almost have filled the hive body with brood, nectar and pollen. Looking great, actually, and have hatched out the first young bees. I even added a super to that hive in anticipation of continued growth. My second colo...

Thank you!! Yes, I will be at the meeting tomorrow. I won't get there till late, though. I work till 7:00 pm. I hope to get there by 7:15 or so. The colony is collecting pollen today. They are still pretty wound up, but are starting to forage. I'm hoping that's a good sign. I'm keeping my fingers cr...

Okay...the colony is now in the hive body and the feeder has been removed. I don't have a boardman feeder, so I guess I will stop feeding unless you guys tell me that I should figure out another way to give them syrup. I will keep an eye on the activity of the colony today as I can. Any particular b...

Hello! I installed my first colony in it's hive on the 28th of March. They are no longer using a feeder and doing great!! I took the colony's feeder after a week as they didn't really seem to be using it much. Capped brood and lots of comb and nectar and seem to be thriving. I'm thrilled with their ...

Thank you guys for helping me! I'm sure I will have other questions as time goes on, but it's nice to know...

Thanks, Wally! Don't worry, once burned, twice shy. I will know better with my next package. I will check in and see what I find on Sunday. Then order a queen if necessary. How would I find out about getting some brood/egg comb? Post here? Thanks for answering all my newbie questions. It is a...

Oh, no!! I thought I was doing the right thing with the queen. My books said to check to see that she was out in two to three days!! Well...I am a noob. I guess if I mess up, it's going to be a big mess up. Thanks for the advice on the feeder. I'll try to remove it tomorrow. Thanks, also for...
